F1: Check out the Qualifying results ahead of Azerbaijan GP main race day

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is shaping up to be an exciting race, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc taking pole position in the first Friday qualifying session of the new sprint weekend format. The one-hour qualifying session saw Leclerc set the fastest lap time, putting him ahead of the Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez for Sunday’s race.

The new sprint weekend format sees a change in the usual race weekend schedule, with qualifying taking place on Friday, followed by a sprint event on Saturday, and the main race on Sunday. The qualifying session is split into three segments, with the first two seeing five cars each being knocked out, leaving the top 10 to compete in the Q3 shootout.

Leclerc’s pole position is a significant achievement for Ferrari, who have been struggling to compete with the likes of Red Bull and Mercedes in recent seasons. Leclerc’s performance in qualifying will give the team a much-needed boost, and they will be hoping to convert their pole position into a race win on Sunday.

Behind Leclerc, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will be starting from second and third on the grid, respectively. Red Bull have been performing well this season, and the team will be looking to take advantage of their strong qualifying positions to secure a win in Baku.
