F1 Australia Grand Prix 2023: Aston Martin’s Alonso “confident” as he starts fourth
Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso qualified fourth for the 2023 Australian Grand Prix.
Alonso will start next to his old teammate and rival Lewis Hamilton. The two-time winner said it was his finest Saturday yet for Aston Martin.
In Australia, Alonso qualified fourth, but his highest position on the starting line for an Aston Martin was second last time out in Saudi Arabia because Charles Leclerc was disqualified. Despite this, the Aston Martin driver was happy with the team’s and his own advancement.
“I feel good. Obviously, yeah, it was very tight, within one or two-tenths there were a lot of cars and we were on the upper part of that group in Q1 and Q2 – I think I was P2. And then in Q3, [by] a couple of hundredths we missed the first row of the grid. (F1)
