Volkswagen to launch new Virtus GT Plus MT and GT Edge variants in June for Indian market
Volkswagen has recently unveiled its latest variants of the Virtus sedan, the Virtus GT Plus MT and Virtus GT Edge. The Virtus GT Plus MT is the top-spec manual version for the Indian market, while the GT Edge adds more styling elements to the DSG variant. The new GT Plus MT variant replaces the 7-speed DSG twin-clutch gearbox with a 6-speed manual transmission, which sends power to the front wheels.
Under the hood, the Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus MT is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that generates 147.5bhp and 250Nm of peak torque. The sedan features 16-inch black alloy wheels, red brake callipers, and a GT front grille, giving it a sporty and aggressive look. It also comes in dual-tone paint schemes, all of which feature a Carbon Steel Grey roof.
The interior of the Virtus GT Plus MT is equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch digital driver’s cockpit, ventilated front seats, and an electric sunroof. The car’s interior is offered in two decor themes – Rave Glossy and Dark Red Glossy, adding to its premium look and feel.
The GT Edge variant, on the other hand, is based on the GT Plus automatic version and features a Lava Blue paint job, GT badging on the front and rear bumpers and fenders, and red brake callipers. The GT Edge also comes with 16-inch ‘Razor’ alloy wheels and aluminum pedals, as well as red contrast stitching for the leatherette upholstered seats.
Bookings for the Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus MT and GT Edge variants will start in mid-May, with deliveries scheduled to begin in June.
