Mahindra Thar 5-Door to launch in 2024 with sunroof and enhanced Features

Mahindra Thar SUV is set to receive an extended 5-door version next year, offering buyers a more practical and versatile option. Recent spy shots have revealed that the upcoming Thar 5-door will come equipped with a sunroof, further enhancing its appeal.

While the Thar 3-door variant has gained a dedicated following among Indian lifestyle vehicle enthusiasts, Mahindra aims to cater to a wider audience with the Thar 5-door. The extended version will not only feature an additional set of doors but also offer an extended list of features. The inclusion of a sunroof, confirmed by the latest spy shots, adds a touch of luxury and enhances the overall experience.

Unlike the Thar 3-door, it is unlikely that Mahindra will offer a soft-top variant for the Thar 5-door. Instead, the company plans to introduce several upgrades and enhancements. These include a front centre armrest, an updated touchscreen infotainment system, increased storage spaces within the cabin, multiple seating options (including two individual seats for the second row), and improved interior materials for a more premium feel.

Mahindra has confirmed that the launch of the Thar 5-door is scheduled for the year 2024. Currently, the company is focused on clearing the existing order backlog, which includes over two lakh units of various SUV models such as the Thar 3-door, XUV700, Scorpio N, and Scorpio Classic. While there are ongoing new product developments in the pipeline, Mahindra’s priority is to fulfill existing orders before introducing fresh SUVs in the Indian market.

Rajesh Jejurikar, the Executive Director and CEO (Auto and Farm Sector) of Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., clarified that the 5-door Thar will not be launched in the current calendar year. Instead, it is slated for a 2024 launch. In addition to the Thar 5-door, Mahindra is also preparing for a significant update to the XUV300 compact SUV, which is expected to be launched in 2024.
