Verstappen was not pleased with Russell’s actions and asked his Red Bull team to report him to race control. The Dutchman later overtook Russell to reclaim third place. However, he was still furious about the incident and approached Russell directly in parc ferme after the race.
Russell apologized to Verstappen, saying that he had no grip at the time of the collision. But Verstappen was not satisfied with this explanation and told Russell that they all needed to leave a little space on the track. He warned Russell to expect the same kind of treatment in the future and called him a “d****head.”

Speaking in the post-race interviews, Verstappen expressed his disappointment with Russell’s actions, saying that he did not understand why Russell needed to take so much risk in lap one. Verstappen pointed out that they all had cold tyres and it was easy to lock up. He criticized Russell’s explanation of the incident and stated that the damage to his car did not look good.
