Tata Motors achieves remarkable milestone with 10,000 deliveries of Tiago EV in less than four months
Tata Motors has achieved a significant milestone by delivering 10,000 units of the Tiago EV in less than four months since its launch. The Tiago EV also holds the distinction of being the fastest booked electric vehicle in India, with 10,000 bookings received within 24 hours and 20,000 bookings by the end of 2022.
Variants
The Tiago EV is available in six different variants: XE, XT mid-range, XT long-range, XZ+, XZ+ Tech Lux, XZ+ (7.2kW charger), and XZ+ Tech Lux (7.2kW charger).
Battery performance
Under the hood, the Tiago EV is equipped with two battery pack options: 19.2kWh and 24kWh, offering claimed ranges of 250km and 315km, respectively. The electric motor paired with the 19.2kWh battery generates 61PS of power and 110Nm of torque, while the motor coupled with the 24kWh battery produces 75PS of power and 114Nm of torque. With these specifications, the Tiago EV can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 5.7 seconds with the 24kWh battery pack and 6.2 seconds with the 19.2kWh battery pack.
Charging
In terms of charging, the Tiago EV can be charged using a 3.3kW or 7.2kW home wall box charger. When connected to a 15A plug point, the medium-range variant takes approximately 6.9 hours, and the long-range variant takes around 8.7 hours to charge from 10 to 100 percent. With a 3.3kW wall box charger, the medium-range and long-range versions can be charged from 10 to 100 percent in 5.1 hours and 6.4 hours, respectively. The 7.2kW charger, on the other hand, can charge the medium-range version in 2.6 hours, while the long-range version takes 3.6 hours to complete the same charging cycle. The Tiago EV also supports DC fast charging, with a claimed 0-80 percent charging time of 57 minutes and the ability to add 110km of range in just 30 minutes of charging.
Key Features
The Tiago EV boasts a wide range of features, including a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, cruise control, regenerative braking modes (0, 1, 2, and 3), ZConnect connected car features with smartwatch connectivity, an eight-speaker sound system, leatherette upholstery, a reverse parking camera and sensors, TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system), a cooled glove box, and powered boot opening. Additionally, it offers two driving modes: City and Sport.
Price and Rivals
In terms of pricing, the Tiago EV starts at Rs 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 12.04 lakh (ex-showroom). It faces competition from rivals such as the Citroen eC3 and MG Comet EV.
