Mercedes-Benz India records highest-ever sales of 7,573 units in Q2
Despite the disruption in the supply chain and chip shortage, Mercedes India has achieved a remarkable feat.
On Monday, July 11, Mercedes-Benz India reported its highest ever Q2 sales of 7,573 units in India, indicating a surge of 56% YoY. In the second quarter i.e April-June of FY2021, the company had sold 4,857 units.
According to the company, the reason for the highest sales is the launch of new products, sustained demand, and a unique omnichannel created for the customers. Despite the disruption in the supply chain and chip shortage, Mercedes India has achieved a remarkable feat.
“This sales record becomes even more significant against the backdrop of continued supply-side challenges, triggered by global developments and also local market challenges,” said Mercedes-Benz India MD and CEO Martin Schwenk.
The company has further stated that it expects the chip shortage to continue in the coming months. “It remains our endeavour to scale up our production and deliver the cars to the customers and reduce the waiting period. We have a solid order bank of more than 6,000 cars, which makes our market outlook very positive,” Mr Schwenk added.
The company also sees a stronger outlook for Q3, as it is ready to launch some of the most anticipated models from the global portfolio in Indian markets.
