Maruti Suzuki has recently announced a significant sales milestone for its popular hatchback, the WagonR. With over 30 lakh units sold, the WagonR has established itself as one of the most iconic hatchbacks in India over the past 24 years since its introduction in 1999.
The current generation of the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, the third iteration, comes packed with advanced features. It includes dual VVT with an Idle Start Stop button and is available with two engine options: a 1.0-litre petrol engine and a 1.2-litre petrol engine. Additionally, the WagonR offers a CNG mode, boasting an impressive fuel efficiency of 34.05 km/kg.
In terms of pricing, the hatchback is available in a range of ₹5.54 lakh to ₹7.42 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti Suzuki reports that the WagonR enjoys a significant percentage of repeat buyers, with 24% of customers choosing to upgrade to a new WagonR.

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR has also established itself as one of the best-selling cars in India for two consecutive years. The automaker has further showcased a flex-fuel-powered prototype of the WagonR, which is expected to be launched as a future model of the hatchback.
Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, expressed his delight with the WagonR’s success. He emphasized that the hatchback has evolved over time to meet the changing preferences of customers, incorporating class-leading features, design, and performance. He highlighted the WagonR’s consistent presence in the top 10 best-selling cars in India, along with its position as the best-selling passenger vehicle in the country for the past two years.
The Maruti Suzuki WagonR is available in nine variants, including VXi, VXi AGS, VXi CNG, ZXi, ZXi AGS, ZXi+, and ZXi+ AGS. Safety features offered include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program, Rear Parking Sensors, and Hill-Hold Assist, among others.
With its bold design, spacious interior, practicality, reliability, and impressive fuel efficiency, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR has earned the trust of over 30 lakh families and continues to be a popular choice among Indian car buyers.
